I'm an adult with no children. I have two Bitties, a Caucasian one that was a gift from my mom and the Hispanic one, which I found used at a toy store. I have to say I prefer the 18" dolls, because I think they are more fun to dress and pose and take pictures of. A ten-year-old girl doll just has so much more potential for personality and backstory, so I find it easier to bond with and play with them. However...when you are tired or have had a bad day and just want to lie in bed and watch t.v. and cuddle something soft, nothing beats a Bitty Baby. She is the perfect size for holding, is very soft and cuddly, and has no hair to mess up like the 18" girls. So I guess it really depends on what you like to do with your dolls. Bitty is adorable, but if you like doing doll hair, setting up scenes and taking pictures, you might not get as much use out of her. If you're looking for a cute little doll to keep on your bed or couch and cuddle with now and then, you can't go wrong with Bitty.

I bought a Bitty a few years ago for a dear friend, for her 55th birthday. She had never had a "baby" doll, and had seen Bitty in the catalogues that I had. Her birthday is in September, so she got her Bitty then, and for Christmas I got her the rocking horse, so she had someplace to display her. I also made her an outfit for every month of the year, celebrating either the season, or whatever holiday fell in a particular month. She's the type of person that loves to change everything in her house, depending on the holidays and season's of the year. She changes the wreath on her front door, and wall hangings, and some decorative hangings on her light pole, etc.
This friend never had any children, and just loves her Bitty.

DD has had Nicki (Bitty) since she was 2 1/2. She is a part of the family and DD still plays with and loves her. That said, I like the 18" girls much better. Nicki is often displayed with the big girls and shares her clothes with them. I do love her clothes. I only buy Bitty things when they are on sale though because we are trying to complete our historical collection.

Since DD already has her Bitty and there are certain Bitty clothes I just have to have for "my collection", I found myself a Gotz baby on ebay that's the same size. I found I liked her even better and having just the one perfect baby made me very happy! Here is Jessica...forgive me for posting a non-AG doll although her clothes are!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Ok, now that's a hard question. Your making me choose between kids...don't let them know my answer...

She is so cute and comes with so many wonderful accessories. Right now I probably play with the 18" more - only because I pose them around the house while daughter is sleeping. She thinks they come alive and get into things while she's in bed. Every now and then I move bitty baby Emily and tell her she was crying and woke me up or something. Again, I love just holding her like she was my child. She's just so soft and darn cute.

If you really like her, I'd say get one. You'll end up playing with both!

Hi, I wanted to mention that Bitty was the first doll that my daughter received. She still loves her. My son has one now as well that came to us in a lot of items. I love the Bitty's so much that I actually purchased one for myself at the MCM sale this year. I think that I do like the 18 inch dolls a bit more but am excited to have the baby too to dress in different outfits during different times of the year. - Meg B.

Thanks everyone!
It sounds to me like your little girls really love her (playing Mommy and such), but the adults here prefer the 18" girls. Since I'm 25 with no children I think I'll hold off on her. I appreciate all your input, I would have hated to have ordered her to realize that I was just going to ignore her!
Thank-you again
